The London Array Offshore Wind Farm site is located around 20km from the Kent and Essex coasts in the outer Thames estuary, on and between two sandbanks, Long Sand and Kentish Knock.
The wind farm itself consists of 175 x 3.6 MW wind turbines all of which are linked to two offshore substations.
The offshore substations are connected to the shore by four submarine cables, each approximately 54km in length. From the landing point on the southern bank of The Swale, the export cables run south on land for 770m to the onshore substation at Cleve Hill.
